Party nails.

Hellu!
I was going to a party and felt like doing something fun with my nails. I was going for tape but couldn't decide on what kind. So I present to you: tape skittles! :)

The base color is A England - Princess Sabra and then I added tape and A England - Bridal Veil. Topped it off with some SV as usual.

I used striping tape (thumb and middle), regular tape (index and ring) and hole reinforcers (pinky).

I need to wear the thumb design in christmassy colors soon! :D

Pretty dupe.

Hellu!
This is a polish G bought in NYC and gifted me. For some reason she knows my polish taste really well. I like this polish so much I already have it! :O A version of it that is :) But since it's probably my favorite glitter (except for this one I guess) I don't mind having lots of it ;)

This is three coats of Sally Hansen - Glitz Gal. It's easy to apply and dries really fast. Removal is pretty easy as well since it's mostly very small particles. The big ones are holographic :)

Sparklarama!

I should wear glitter more often.

Nail polish love.

Hellu!
I have to say, I love A England. Like for reals. Great polishes, application-wise and the colors. Also, great for nail art!!!111 (this is me excited btw) I was like mmm need something purdy on mah nails /reachforAEngland. Then I was like mmmm what's better than holo? DOUBLE HOLO! With tape!

This is two coats of A England - Princess Tears, tape and A England - Lady of the Lake.

A bit blurry but this is what it looks like without flash.

And here it is with some SV as well. Holo, still present.

On my right hand I settled for half moons which was also really pretty!

Side note, don't wear holo while studying. I was all like oooh purdy nails, let's look at them every 10 seconds. The holo really popped under my reading lamp as well :S

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new collection will contain!

Sparkly Sparkling.

Hellu!
Here's another polish from our Scotland trip this summer.

This is three-ish coats of Revlon - Sparkling over Color Club - Sweetpea + SV. This glitter is fun, altho bigger glitter is harder to remove, at least for me. But since there's not a whole lot of them it was fine :)

It's a fun way to spice up a plain creme polish :)

Peas of the non-eating kind.

Hellu!
Here's the other Color Club I bought recently.

This is three coats of Color Club - Sweetpea. It looks a bit streaky this close but for IRL purposes (heh) it was fine. You know how it is with cremes (that's why I'm a shimmer-lovah!) ;) Also, this is a sun pic (zomg!).

Feels like forever since I made a DIY-post but christmas is approaching and the stuff I finish won't be showable until after presents are opened ;) I've actually been a one-project-gal for a really long time now :O I usually switch from project to project and nothing is finished :P Well I have to make fun gifts for my family so that's making me more focused :)

Flower leopard.

Hellu!
I usually feel like doing nail art on creme polishes.

So I made some leopard print. The base is Color Club - Hydrangea Kiss, the blue spots were made with Color Club - Chelsea Girl and the black is China Glaze - Liquid Leather. + SV ofc!

I really like leopard print! It's so fun, pretty easy to do and you don't have to wait for the base to dry completely like with tape manis. Win-win :)

Flowery blue.

Hellu!
Here's a polish I bought at Ica Maxi for 20 SEK (full size bottle as well). Yay ;D

This is three coats of Color Club - Hydrangea Kiss. It's more dusty IRL.

The real color is like a mix of these two pics. Application was fine, and it dried pretty fast. I got some tiny bubbles on one finger but that didn't really bother me.

Cheap polishes are the best! ;)

One of the dupes.

Hellu!
If you're a nail nerd you probably know about the Peridot craze from a while back. And if you don't well, Chanel made a polish called Peridot that everyone went crazy about (and that's also crazy expensive like all of their polishes...). And then other brands made dupes since it was so popular. I have one of them.

This is two coats of Kicks - Evening at Chateau Marmont over Gina Tricot - Petrol + a coat of SV. I bumped the index finger boo. Anyways, it looks like some cool greenish brass.

I've used this polish twice and I can say that I get it. It's really pretty. Altho it's really sheer so you need to layer it.

This autumn/winter thing is really cramping my photo style. I want light again!

Best of.

Hellu!
I thought it'd be fun to make a post with my favorite manis since I made one with my favorite polishes. It will involve quite a bit of tape... ;) Oh and they're not in order or anything. You'll recognise some of them from my header since I put my favs there. But big pics is always nice huh? :] I'll include links to the original posts.

Ofc the radioactive one makes the list. I still think this is one of the coolest things I've done.

And part two.

One for the icelandic part of me.

A super villainy one with rhinestones and striping tape.

A reminder that free handing is possible.

And ofc this post needs a marble and some rainbows!

I hope you liked this post! It's fun to go back and look at what you've made in the past to get inspired :)

Chem free hair.

Hellu!
Like I said in a previous post I've stopped using chemicals in my hair (I washed out the last regular hair product on october 5th). So I'm over a month in. This post will be about some of the things I've tried so far and what I use now. I wanted to post a before picture but I couldn't find any where my hair looked really bad lol. And also it's not just the look that's changed, the feel is different as well and that's hard to show you guys ;)

At first I tried washing it with honey. It feels kinda weird since it doesn't lather. And I didn't feel that it made my hair as clean as I wanted it. Altho I had just made a deep conditioner with lots of oil in it so I don't know if that made it harder. Also I used what I had at home and that was a honey with some dextrose in it as well so I guess I can't say for sure about this method. I think it would be easier if you had shorter hair tho.

Here's a pic of my hair after a honey wash. (yes that is a rainbow around my waist)

Then I read some more online about not using chemicals in your hair (also called no poo, altho some of them use conditioner). If you want to read more about it here's one link. Or you could google it. I tried an egg-wash one time with some vinegar and honey in it but I didn't really like that one. I didn't like the thought of letting egg go to waste basically since they come from animals. Also this smelled pretty weird (until my hair dried) lol.

Finally I read about someone who used olive soap and a vinegar rinse. So I googled some sites and found this olive soap. It only contains saponified olive oil, mineral salts and water.

Here's the soap after I cut some of it off.

Since I bought the big one (600 g) I cut off about 1/3 of it and put it in a container which I keep in the shower. I also poured in some hot water to make it gooey and easier to apply. Yes this looks like slime but it isn't ;) I also made more of the runny stuff and poured into a pump container so I can wash my hands with it as well :) It really makes you squeaky clean (like actual squeaks) but doesn't dry out my skin as much :) Oh and about the vinegar.. That's so the hair closes after the soap. Before I hop in the shower I pour 1 dl vinegar and 9 dl water into a plastic pitcher now living in the shower. After rinsing out the soap I pour the vinegar-water over the hair and then wash it with water. Smell free :)

Here's a pic from the day after an olive soap wash. I had slept with a braid and also a friend had cut my hair. Anyways, it feels so soft! It's really different from before :) Also, not an itchy scalp anymore. Happyhappy. And think how happy the environment must be!

Phew that was a wordy post! If anyone that isn't a part of my family reads this that's pretty cool ;P Oh, and I'm also gonna try out making my own hair spray next time I'm doing something special. Here's a tutorial I found.
Ps. I have to brag about my mom. Ds.

It is what it says it is.

Hellu!
Here's my other Gina polish.

This is two coats of Gina Tricot - Petrol with a coat of SV I think. This was hard to photograph. It's a bit darker IRL. Pretty color! It's like if Moody Model and Petrol Posh had a baby :P Application was nice as well. Altho I think it stains, I couldn't really tell since my nails are still really bad after using Rodeo Fanatic...

A little early for the holiday spirit?

Hellu!
I made some christmassy nails, totally by accident. But they were pretty anyways so :)

This is two coats of Sinful Colors - Tanji Orange and then I added two coats of Barielle - Elle's Spell (altho you can't see it in the pics..) and a coat of Barry M - Nail Effects 201 (the gold crackle) on ring and thumb. + SV you know. You just have to imagine the flakies! ;P

I plan to make a lot of holiday manis this year. I'm totally getting into the christmas spirit!

Day of DIY # 20. Nature friendly cleaning.

Hellu!
Here's an addition to my mother nature post. You all know by now I like to make stuff and these I've made inspired by my mom. She's the craftiest person I know! Since I want to use less disposable things, home made dish clothes were only some yarn away ;) Mom uses these so that's how I came up with the idea. They may look a bit weird, but they get the job done :)

Here's the first one I made. It kinda looks like a fin lol. I experimented a bit with knitting needle sizes for this one so it's a bit wonky.

Then I made this one, which kind of looks like a piece of clothing or something. Some more experimenting done here, but with different amounts of thread. These first two were made with flax and cotton/flax strands.

Then I tried one with bamboo (the dark blue), flax, cotton/flax and cotton. The bamboo is just too soft tho to just be in a dish cloth :P (recognise Keymaster in the top?)

Here's the latest made with cotton/flax and flax yarns. Also for this one I didn't experiment so much lol.

When they get dirty or smelly we just throw them in with the rest of our laundry. I reckon they'll be good for several years :) Oh, and almost all of the cotton/flax and flax yarns were thrifted :)

Random freehanding.

Hellu!
This week I've been studying a lot (zomg). For reals I mean. But you know I still needed breaks and what not. Behold some weird nail art! Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone (tape) ;)

The base is Gina Tricot - Billard and then I added different shapes with A England - Bridal Veil and Merlin + SV. I used my tiniest brush (which I still think makes such fat lines -.-) and a tooth pick.

I liked the pinky and the index, altho it was a bit crooked :P It was pretty fun to make at least :)

You mean pool?

Hellu!
Here's a polish I got from our old room mate. She had two polishes from Gina Tricot that didn't suit her so she brought them to her most polish nerdy friend (me!) ;) First time I tried this brand as well.

This is two coats of Gina Tricot - Billard. It had a nice formula, and was almost opaque in one coat! As in, this is a good "morning" polish for me :P Sometimes I only use one coat when I'm short for time (and add another one when I get home).

This is a little more color accurate. It's a warm green, with shimmer. Taken under the stove lamp, since we're losing light over here!

Have you tried any new brands lately?
