Chem free hair.

Hellu!
Like I said in a previous post I've stopped using chemicals in my hair (I washed out the last regular hair product on october 5th). So I'm over a month in. This post will be about some of the things I've tried so far and what I use now. I wanted to post a before picture but I couldn't find any where my hair looked really bad lol. And also it's not just the look that's changed, the feel is different as well and that's hard to show you guys ;)

At first I tried washing it with honey. It feels kinda weird since it doesn't lather. And I didn't feel that it made my hair as clean as I wanted it. Altho I had just made a deep conditioner with lots of oil in it so I don't know if that made it harder. Also I used what I had at home and that was a honey with some dextrose in it as well so I guess I can't say for sure about this method. I think it would be easier if you had shorter hair tho.

Here's a pic of my hair after a honey wash. (yes that is a rainbow around my waist)

Then I read some more online about not using chemicals in your hair (also called no poo, altho some of them use conditioner). If you want to read more about it here's one link. Or you could google it. I tried an egg-wash one time with some vinegar and honey in it but I didn't really like that one. I didn't like the thought of letting egg go to waste basically since they come from animals. Also this smelled pretty weird (until my hair dried) lol.

Finally I read about someone who used olive soap and a vinegar rinse. So I googled some sites and found this olive soap. It only contains saponified olive oil, mineral salts and water.

Here's the soap after I cut some of it off.

Since I bought the big one (600 g) I cut off about 1/3 of it and put it in a container which I keep in the shower. I also poured in some hot water to make it gooey and easier to apply. Yes this looks like slime but it isn't ;) I also made more of the runny stuff and poured into a pump container so I can wash my hands with it as well :) It really makes you squeaky clean (like actual squeaks) but doesn't dry out my skin as much :) Oh and about the vinegar.. That's so the hair closes after the soap. Before I hop in the shower I pour 1 dl vinegar and 9 dl water into a plastic pitcher now living in the shower. After rinsing out the soap I pour the vinegar-water over the hair and then wash it with water. Smell free :)

Here's a pic from the day after an olive soap wash. I had slept with a braid and also a friend had cut my hair. Anyways, it feels so soft! It's really different from before :) Also, not an itchy scalp anymore. Happyhappy. And think how happy the environment must be!

Phew that was a wordy post! If anyone that isn't a part of my family reads this that's pretty cool ;P Oh, and I'm also gonna try out making my own hair spray next time I'm doing something special. Here's a tutorial I found.
Ps. I have to brag about my mom. Ds.
Toodels!

  2. Meh min post kom aldrig fram igår!

    1. Tack!
