Day of DIY # 9.

I made this about a month ago, but now it's perfect to blog about it since I can fit on more in HHJaja's summer challenge for July :)

These were the supplies. Two t-shirts the bf didn't use anymore. But he liked the prints and asked if I could use them for a shopping bag. Since t-shirt fabric might not be all that for that particular purpose I made lining (foder?) with a pillow case that I got from a friend a few years back.

One side.

The other side.

And if you're feeling playful you can turn it inside out and use it like this. Cost for this project: 0. I like.

Action pic! ;)

Stripes on holo.

After a few days wear I wanted to add something and hide the scruffy tips ;)

Striping tape and one coat of China Glaze - Wagon Trail over Depend - 2030 + SV. Holo and shimmer, and two pretty colors :)

In the sun. That's shown itself here this week. Awesome!

Have you noticed that I really like striping tape? ;)

Another purple holo.

This was the last Depend holo to be swatched.

This is two coats of Depend - 2030 Plum over one coat of Color Club - Hot Like Lava. This turned out way pink... Next time I'll layer it over A England - Princess Tears. I want to preserve as much as I can from these tiny bottles... Sunlight.

Day light.

With flash.

Not very color accurate but you can see there is lots of rainbows at least :) What more could you want? ;)

Day of DIY # 8.

Here's another entry for HHJaja's summer upcycling challenge. This theme is T-shirt. I was very happy with this project :) It's the perfect use for t-shirts that are ill-fitting or have holes in them. Or if you just don't want to part from your favorite t-shirt that you never use anymore ;)

It's basically the same as the plastic rug I made but with t-shirts instead :) This one is the bf's bedroom rug.

Close up. All t-shirts except for the dark red were donated by the bf. And I still have lots left for my own rug :)

For size reference. It's a real rug :) All photos taken by the bf!

Cool bananas! Upcycling is the shit :)

Orange and red.

I felt like giving some love to an old polish.

I added striping tape and China Glaze - Foxy over Life Preserver + SV. Sunlight for once!

With flash. I liked the ring and pinkie best.

Day of DIY # 7.

When you love someone, make them an apron.

The bf needed an apron. Since it's super easy to make and mine is a tad bit too small for him ;) I just whipped one up. The fabric is an old tablecloth I got from my granddad. I also got the thread a while back so this apron cost zero. Sweet!

"Make some movement to show it off!" Lol :) He also wanted extra long ties (eh you get what I mean) so he could tie them in the front. Ask and receive!

I realised I've made four aprons in my time, and I gave them all away. To compensate, the two aprons I have were home made gifts as well. Score! :)

Holo swede.

I think it's really cool swedish brand Depend made a holographic line. And yes, the prices are not cool lol. Anyways. Here's another of the ones I got.

One coat of Depend - 2032 Denim Blue over one coat of China Glaze - First Mate. One coat love! ;) Pretty color, lots of rainbow. Flash pic.

I didn't take enough photos of this mani so here you get an out of focus one. But this is what it looks like without the rainbows. Still pretty :) Like!

Unfortunately we have some craptastic weather in Sweden atm... I've actually got holo on my toes as well but it's too cold to wave those around! Boh.

New old stuff.

This weekend me and the bf went to a second hand store. I do like 'em.. :> I also got a lot of stuff from my granddad last weekend and I've been organizing my room to make room for them. Pic spam!

Got my drawers on. Nice storage makes me happy lol.

I've been collecting nice ties for a project. Mmm paisley...

A find from the second hand store. The one on the left is a booklet with knitted patterns from 1960, the middle (also knitting and crocheting patterns) from 1974 and the book (about crafts) is from 1978. Awesome!

Just fab. Some things have changed to the better since then tho ;)

This pic is for Lilja.

We also bought these cool glass jars with lids. I just want to fill them up with candy! :)

I got some sewing supplies as well and the bf bought a tripod which he wanted. 'Twas a good day! Shopping and saving the environment all in the same time ;)

Rusty orange.

I realised I hadn't made proper swatch pics of this orange goodie.

This is two coats of China Glaze - Life Preserver. It's a rusty orange. Nice formula, dries fast.

In sunlight. I like it. It's a soothing color :)

Minnie skittles.

I got another gift from abroad from G. And they're also my first OPI's (except for base and top coat).

I got a mini set with three colors and a quick drying top coat. Since the bottles are small I thought skittles would be perfect! The pink (on thumb and ring) is OPI - If You Moust You Moust, the pink shimmer (glass fleck?) (on index and pinkie) is I'm All Ears and the red (on middle) is The Color Of Minnie. It's red with pink shimmer. Red + shimmer, obviously it was my fav... ;) The pink was a bit streaky, otherwise they applied nicely.

Maybe I should wear skittles more often. It looks fun :)

Day of DIY # 6.

"Strandfyndet" (something you find on the beach) was another theme in HHJaja's summer challenge (for July). I already had stuff for this since when I was at my sisters place. One day we went to the beach for a walk and picnic and I collected some shells.

I got this big jar from my mom a while ago. I didn't have a plan for it when I got it but when I had collected these shells I thought it could make a cool lantern. I poured some rice in first to make a larger bottom and then placed the shells and three candles.

From the top.

The jar made a perfect holder for this other big candle :)

Here they are together in our bedroom, in front of our new wallpaper! :)

I also made a fridge magnet out of one piece :) (And one out of nail polish and striping tape ;))

All the candle photos taken by my lovely photographer and bf :*

Purple times two.

My current mani, that's on day three now. I don't redo my nails too often right now.. But they're nice at least lol.

This is two coats of A England - Princess Tears, striping tape, one coat of Orly - Rococo A Go-Go, a silver rhinestone and ofc some SV to smooth it all out.

A bit out of focus, but this shows the design well I thought. I was a bit short for time when I did this so.. Anywho :P Pretty polishes!

Day of DIY # 5.

I have a new to me word for ya'll: PLARN (plastic yarn)! I feel like I'm growing in all this DIYing. I find myself reading about something and wanting to try it asap. When I visited my sister we talked about plarn and I said it would be fun to make something. 'Twas agreed upon that I would make her a rug since the floor of her balcony is super cold. Said and done, when I got home I started right away.

I made plarn by cutting strips out of various plastic bags. I cut up the sides so it made one big piece of plastic. Then I cut the bag into strips by starting in one end and cutting along the sides. So I ended up with one cohesive ball of plarn. If that makes sense lol.

I crocheted the strips with a size 10 needle I bought on eBay.

And here's the finished result. I put a bottle of nail polish in there for size reference. It was a fun project but I got a bit tired since I first had to make the plarn and then crochet it. It's stiffer than real yarn but as long as I rested my hands it was fine :) I'm going to make one for our balcony as well!

I really like that you can take all those plastic bags you're not going to use and make something pretty and usable. Re-use, reduce, recycle fo shizzle ;)

I also submitted this to swedish blogger HH Jaja who has a summer challenge that's all about re-using :) This one was for june but I've got some in store for july as well :) Check it out!

Spicing up the mood.

I felt I should add something to the Moody Model mani. What better than tape and some bling right? ;)

I added some tape and a coat of A England - St George (puuuuurdy polish) + SV. It looks really cool in this pic...

...but mostly it looked like this since the polishes are a bit too similar in color. And you get blinded by the SV lol. Next time I'll use colors that are more contrasting :)

Party mani.

Last saturday we celebrated my granddad's birthday. Ofc I had to have a sparkly and pretty mani for that special occasion!

This is one coat of China Glaze - Ruby Pumps, one coat of Barry M - Red Glitter (fab!) & one coat of Barielle - Elle's Spell + SV.

I had a little shrinkage but it wasn't noticeable IRL. I was really happy with this mani. I wish the photos could've shown it in all its glory ;)

I should wear glitter more often, 'tis fun!

Moody indeed.

This is a polish I've already used three times, even though I'm not sure I like it... Maybe I should focus on using the ones I'm sure about instead lol.

This is two coats of H&M - Moody Model. I like the color but the formula isn't all that. It looks pretty alright in this pic but it tends to be a bit streaky. Maybe I'm not all that used to cremes.. ;p At least now I have a swatch of it lol.
