Day of DIY # 70. Tie masterpiece.

Hellu!
I got the idea for this project a long time ago. I wanted to make something out of ties. So I started collecting cool (mostly paisley) ties. Maybe two years ago? Anyways, thrift shops are the shit for tie collecting. Then it came to me a while back. A tie skirt. And then I saw it on a blog and liked the idea even more. I'm really proud of it since 1. I actually did it 2. it's a sewing project 3. it turned out almost exactly the way I had envisioned. YEY! It's my contribution to Husmorsskolans Syförening and Fredrikas Sypepp :) PICS!

The pics are taken by the bf. At Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin. I figured such a masterpiece needed a castle. (Awesome mittens gift from mom)

So many ties!!!11oneone

I cut all the ties the same length and sewed them together one at a time. Then I zig zagged the raw ends. (And that's basically everything I had to zig zag = awesome) The waistband is two ends that I sewed together and attached to the rest.

I made a buttonhole in one of the ends. New skill! I've only tested the buttonhole thing on the machine before :) I also put in a zipper.

I didn't do a final count but there were 18-20 ties involved.

I got a thumbs up from a woman at a bus stop later in the evening. She knew fine crafts(wo)manship ;)

I should learn some new poses yes.

Here I tried out some Mr Burns arms at least.

TIES! I have almost all the thinner ends of the ties left. I shall of course save them for something else. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

Lately.

Hellu!
Some everyday pics.

New knit in front of the TV. The bf takes sneaky pics.

Since we came home from Berlin I've been drinking more tea than usual. Since I had vacation I treated myself to another visit to the tea shop. I've had Andre Kåppen before and it's really good but the other three are new. I've only tried the Banankola (banana toffee) and eeh yuum! It tastes like Banana Skids fo sho.

It has tiny candy bananas in it!!! :P

Also the bf has been drinking tea with me some evenings which means I get to use my blue and white tea pot :) Cups and tea pots are second hand. The blue one is even made in my home town :)

Moar foodz.

Hellu!
These posts kind of serve as inspiration for me. So I don't forget about all the tasty foods!

The bf wanted to make pancake cake. On a tuesday. "One of the perks about being a grown up." It was really tasty :)

Saturday feast! Veggies in the oven, fried fish and chanterelle + sherry sauce. Chantarelles picked by the bf. He's crafty that one. Eh YUM!

Another fried fish. This time with chopped almonds in the batter. Brussel sprouts in the oven with some lemon juice and sea salt. I also made a sort of sauce with olive oil, lime juice, chili and ginger (I think, it was a while ago ya'know).

And sometimes we even eat in day light! A weekend breakfast all included.

Maybe you got some food inspo?

Day of DIY # 69. Tie dye dress.

Hellu!
I finally got around to dying some clothes again. This time it was a dress and a body for lil G. This is my weeks contribution to Husmorsskolans Syförening.

First up is the dress. I bought this white dress second hand for probably around 30-40 SEK with the intention of dying it since I don't really use white clothes and dying is fuuuuun :)

Last christmas I got a tie dying book from my mom (äkta bra as I would say in swedish) and I tried making a design from it.

And then the bf took pics of me in her garden. The dress is a tad darker IRL.

The pattern at the top turned out best in the back.

Then I was like "let's pose with these bikes while looking a bit krazihors".

Happy happy. It's definitely a new favorite, comfortable and cool! :)

Tie dye ya'lls!

Ísland # 2.

Hellu!
Here's another post about that very special country in the north. Day 2.

We had breakfast at Cafe Loki which was just around the corner from the hotel. Thought about having the "icelandic breakfast platter" which included hákarl (since I haven't eaten that) but alas...

I had this cream filled pancake with caramel sauce and a cup of hot chocolate instead. You know, pretty similar. ;)

We walked about and stopped for some kleinur. Or eine kleine as I've also heard them referred to ;) I met this cat and rudely enough spoke swedish to it. Still pretty happy to see me!

Sushi train for lunch. I was more excited than the pic shows.

Later in the day we walked around some more. And I showed the bf where my dad went to school.

I was like "what's up church?" and the bf took cool photos.

Put a smile on my face, again.

Hellu!
Here are some recent things that have made me smile.

How glasses in a cupboard look together. (It's the little things)

Or the sun coming up over the roof tops.

I bought 400g of loose leaf recently (one bag is already at work). The two on the right were new to me and very tasty :)

My best friend saw these crochet needles and had to buy them for me. She's a keeper. I'm guessing they would be perfect (air) travelling needles.

We came back from Berlin yesterday and had an awesome time! I'll share some pics eventually. Altho I should probably finish with the Iceland pics first lol.

Vacation!

Hellu!
In front of me is two weeks of vacation. Tomorrow me and the bf are headed to Berlin for 5 days :) Hopefully the free time will result in some more posts as I still have pics from Iceland as well as some new crafted stuff to show y'all. Woop woop!

Also, yesterday me and my dance group performed in front of 100+ people. It was pretty cool! And even tho I was nervous before it was really fun :)

Day of DIY # 68. Painted table.

Hellu!
We've been searching the globe (or you know.. second hand stores in our home town) for a new living room table. But it seems it's super hard so we decided to do something fun with the one we have.

Enter pretty boring and dust collecting IKEA table. Black. That's barely a color.

Tape is pretty much awesome. Nails, make up, tables. What can't it do??

It was like making a giant nail art.

Ta-dah! It's actually not at all this orangey but more of a darkish red. The camera must've been freaked out.

Sadly the table didn't take a break from the dust collecting while the paint was wet... But I'm still pleased with the result and it's a lot cooler than before! :)
