Cirkus nails.

Hellu!
I'm really glad I got this polish since it's almost like a rainbow ;) (I'm guessing that's why it was picked for me :))

The blueish grey base is H&M - On Ice and then I added two coats of Milani - Gems + a coat of SV.

I was going to wear the glitter by itself and try to make it opaque but I thought this look was really fun! :) I'll have to try it over a lot of different colors!

Day of DIY # 19, apple madness.

Hellu!
It's pretty cool to have a mom with an apple tree, especially if she wants to give you a lot of apples ;) Last weekend me and mom picked a lot of apples and I brought home at least 40! Phew. I got to work right away with them!

I also got some roses to dry :)

First I made apple sauce (?) (äpplemos) and chutney with ginger, garlic and chili.

Need to eat a lot of chutney... ;P Brought one with me to dinner at my dads at least :) Yum! These can be stored for up to 2 months so that's pretty cool.

Then I made more of the same chutney and tried one pan with curry, cinnamon and star anise.

Pretty.

Dried the rose petals since I've really enjoyed a rose tea I bought in Scotland. Now I can just add some petals to any tea I want! :) And it looks pretty!

I also have a lot of apple product in the freezer. I'll be eating apple for the rest of the year lol. :)

Magnetic.

Hellu!
Here's a cool magnetic polish!

This is one coat of Wet n Wild - I Won't Repel You. Lol I hadn't even looked at the name until typing this :P I really liked that I only needed one coat of this since you also need to hold the magnet over each nail for about 15 seconds. So that saves some time! I was pleasantly surprised with this one since I thought it made the pattern faster and also since I could rest my finger on the magnet so it was steadier. I'll probably use this magnet and try on my other two magnetic polishes with it :)

Favorites.

Hellu!
This is another post I've been wanting to do for a while, a post about my favorite nail polishes! Top 5 even. These are the ones I have that I think are the prettiest. I chose to only have 5 so it wouldn't be such a long post (and also easier to pick 'em out ;)) # 1 is # 1, other than that they're not in an order. I'll post a link to their posts as well.

1. Maxfactor - Fantasy Fire. Ofc ;) Here's the post for this beauty!

 A England - Perceval, love!

China Glaze - Rodeo Fanatic, the oldest of my favs! Posts here & here.

Orly - Rococo A Go-Go, so much prettier IRL!

A England - Tristam. Do I even have to say something about this one? ;)

There you have my top 5! Do you have a favorite polish/color/finish?

One for mother nature.

Hellu!
This is a post I've been wanting to make for a while now. I think about the environment and try to treat it as nicely as I can. As you may have noticed (he he) I like nail polish, and you probably also get that nail polish is no good for the environment what with all the chemicals, bottles and whatnot. So I want to compensate for that. This post will be about a few of the things I do to treat mother nature nicely. Maybe there's something you haven't thought about that you could do. These are also things that are good for me as well :) If you have any cool tips about a greener life please tell me in the comments! :)

I like clothes. And I like when noone has the same clothes as I do. Also I like old stuff. So it was only natural that I stopped buying new clothes. I still buy stockings, underwear and shoes new but everything else I try to get second hand :) It's also much more fun! I love me a good deal. I also try to find craft supplies and things for our home second hand. My family has a tradition of wanting to get rid off  give stuff to eachother so usually that's not a problem. ;) (dress from one of my sisters, cardigan from one of my other sisters ;))

I've stopped using chemicals in my hair. I read about someone who stopped using chemicals in her hair and it really got me thinking. I usually get scalp issues when it gets colder outside and thought about the madness of putting chemicals and stuff on it o.O Also Husfadern wrote that he washes his hair with honey so I had to try that. I'm going to make a separate post for this since I've tried a few different things :) Happy hair, happy planet ;) (pic is about 2 years old from when I had a side cut)

If you haven't heard about a menstrual cup now is the time for me to tell you about it. It's like the greatest invention ever, seriously. It's more hygienic, cheaper, better for the environment and more comfortable! I bought mine 3 years ago and still think it's great. There really are no cons to it! The reason you don't know about it (if you don't) is probably good old capitalism. Since you can use it for about 10 years it's a crappy deal for the big companies like Alldays etc. I can't seem to find the site where I bought mine but I'll leave some links here and here, and also a great review in english from Nihrida :) If you want to know more about it just google it and you'll find a lot more information. And then buy one! ;) (pic is from here and it is the model I have)

I wanted to get a cuticle and nail oil but wasn't up to paying a lot for it. I remembered reading somewhere that some nail oils basically contain a lot of sesame seed oil. I thought that sounded great and bought a bottle for about 40 SEK. I cleaned out an old nail polish bottle with remover and poured in some oil. I try to apply it every night when I go to bed. Also I discovered recently that it makes good chapstick as well lol. 100 % natural :)

Quite the wordy post but fun to make :)

Funky french.

Hellu!
This week I joined a giveaway over at One Inch Nails. Head on over, especially if you need tips for movies or TV-series :)

Here's what I'm wearing today, a funky french! :) Two coats of A England - Ascalon with tips in China Glaze - First Mate and a coat of SV. Can you guess how I made the tips? Yeah, tape ;) I'm really digging my hole reinforcers!

Here you can see both the duochrome and holo goodness of Ascalon :)

Day of DIY # 18.

Hellu!
Here are some potholders I made a while ago.

Sorry about the pics, the color of these were not this glowy.

I gave these two to my oldest sister for christmas I think? But according to my computer the pics were taken in april hmm. Anyways she wanted potholders in green and orange and these were just that. And not neon like in the pics lol.

I made these two for G. She always gives me great presents and I thought it was about time she got something crafted! Their kitchen is blue so we decided on that color.

Potholders, the ultimate gift! ;)

Number one.

Hellu!
Here it is in all its glory. The dupe for Unicorn Pee only available in the UK (which I got when we went to Scotland this summer). This post will contain a looot of pics since I really wanna make you understand how beautiful it is. Yes I'm a nail polish nerd. Start drooling! I think I have to make all the pics big as well 8)

This is two coats (I think? It was a while ago) of Maxfactor - Fantasy Fire (awesome name!) over two coats of Essie - Wicked. Might be a coat of SV as well.

Then it shifts! From the prettiest red shimmer to copper with yellow tint.

To a forest-y green. It's almost embarassing how much time I spent watching my nails with this polish. Almost.

The first time I tried it I layered one coat of it over A England - Lady of the Lake. Here you can see the purpleness of Fantasy Fire a lot more. And also the holo shines from underneath :)

Here it looks purple and blue.

Here's some of that copper again.

OMG looking at these pics I just wanna remove what I have on and wear this for the rest of my life! Lol :) It's sooo puuuuuurdyyyyy!!!1111111oneoneoneeleven

Orange and purple shimmer.

Hellu!
I felt like doing a tape mani over the pretty orange.

The orange is Wet n Wild - 9.0.2.1.Orange and the purple is Orly - Rococo A Go-Go. I used hole reinforcers and striping tape as well. Oh, and SV you know. The downside of tape manis the day after when you don't cover the tip completely is you get a gap. Ah well :p

These pics don't do this mani justice at all. I blame the crappy weather! These polishes were kinda made for each other. True story.

Day of DIY # 17.

Hellu!
I don't have anything very special today for Klockarbarns upcycling/återbruks-challenge and nothing pink either. But I have made something from old stuff anyways so... I'll include another bigger finished (omg!) product as well.

I bought this tea in Scotland. But I didn't really know what dandelion or burdock tasted like lol. Found out it tastes like liquorice. Which I love, but not in tea :/ What to do! Smells good anyways so...

... I made these little bags. Like lavender-bags (don't know what that's called in english tho) that you put with your clothes so they smell good. These don't have any pest-repelling qualities but nice smell aint so bad? ;) The fabric is an old duvet cover. I made some more with other kinds of tea as well. And gave most of them away. It's a cute gift I think :)

I just have to include this pic since I think it's pretty funny. And upcycled as well ;) Make do with what you have I say! (I'll blog about that creation later)

Also here is something I finished in june but have forgotten to blog about. Another neck warmer with domino squares. It's pretty long as you can see from my pretty model.

I've only used it 2-3 times, which is kind of a shame since I rarely finish stuff... But it's a bit narrow for my windy city. And I already have an awesome neck warmer. It's time will come tho :)

To make it a bit wider I crocheted an edge all around it. It's made from 5 different yarns and knitted with 2 of 'em at a time to make it thicker.

Ah, the nineties.

Hellu!
Here's a cool polish I got from New York :)

This is three coats of Wet n Wild - 9.0.2.1.Orange + SV. Love the name lol! Also this polish is really pretty. It's orange with golden shimmer.

Since there is no sun for the most part I took a pic under a lamp to try and show you the pretty shimmer a bit better. It really glows :)

G sure knows how to pick 'em!

Day of DIY # 16 the old stuff.

Hellu!
Here's a post with some stuff I did before the blog.

This is a dress I made in april 2010. It was a total upcycling project! :) And I wasn't even all that into it back then :) This one is an old pic from when I'd just made it.

The big skull and straps + back is from a tote bag that I made in the 8th or 9th grade. The little skulls are from a t-shirt. And the skirt part is from one of my mom's old dresses.

And the back. When I ask the bf what I should wear for a party he always says "the skull dress" 8) But it needs some altering so I've only worn it a few times. Still, it's pretty darn cool!

I knitted this for my sister around may 2010. The horse pattern is from a Hönsestrik book :)

This is a bathroom rug I crocheted around june/july 2010. The colors are a bit more vibrant IRL.

I knitted this pillow casing around jan/feb 2011. I'd gotten a really great yarny book from my mom for christmas and was trying all sorts of new to me techniques. When I was done I realized I could've just knitted 4 rows with 4 squares in each to make it easier to assemble. And also that wasn't done very thoroughly. But still, it's one of the things I've actually finished lol.

2010 was the year I got into the creative stuff for real. I kinda need to finish the stuff I started on back then. Maybe this year, yes? ;)

A dance with dragons.

Hellu!
I felt like using an "old" polish (as in swatched before lol). After a day I wanted to add something and thought it would be fun to base the polish after a theme, their names!

This is two coats of Gosh - Golden Dragon, hole reinforcements + striping tape and a coat of A England - Dragon + SV. Get it? Draaagooons :) The Gosh polish really is what it says, a golden dragon. It's really pretty! And ofc Dragon is also pretty duh ;) Sparklarama!

Ps. I will start reading "A dance with dragons" this weekend 8) So I thought the title would be extra approriate lol.

Another shreky color.

Hellu!
Here's one of the polishes I got from G.

This is two coats of Sally Hansen - Grass Slipper + SV since I was in a hurry. This is a really cool color! It is just a tad more green IRL.

I really liked this color on my short nails :)

Day of DIY # 15.

Hellu!
Here's some upcycling/återbruk for Klockarbarns challenge again. Altho I am a day late, oops.

First up is a cake stand made from an old plate and a candle holder. I found these at my granddads.

This plate is so pretty! And yes the crumbles on it are from some cookies, hey I gotta use it right? ;)

I've also made a mini plastic rug from plarn.

This waste bin was rusting on the floor so I needed to put it on something. I thought it turned out nice :) And the rug you see in the reflection is one I made about 2 years ago for our first apartment. I think I should make a post with the stuff I made before I started blogging soon!

First two pics taken by the bf. He's actually the one that did the glueing on the cake stand! <3
